An apparatus is presented which allows measurements of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) based on gas pressure equalization. It may be used for simultaneous analysis of multiple solid or liquid samples of different volumes, and incubation temperatures, without pretreatment. A procedure has been developed for anaerobic biological treatment of cyanide contaminated wastewater, and production of biogas from the cyanide.
