On 1 January 2023 were established U7: Office for substantive project support, technology transfer and innovation (CTT), U8: Office for industrial liaison (SPOG) and U9: Office for project informatics, organization of thematic events and conferences (SPIK).

CTT implements Proof of Concept (PoC) funding to raise TRL and improve commercialization opportunities for the 6 best JSI research projects.

CTT conducts its 300th first meeting with companies.

CTT helps establish more than 100 long-term international collaborations since its inception.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Awards are presented for the first time in Slovenia at the 13th ITTC.

CTT holds the twelfth annual award ceremony for enterprising researchers for the best inventions / innovations with market potential, and exceeds the threshold of 80 participating teams from public research organizations with a total of 56,000 euros awarded in the last 13 years.

CTT helps set up 11th spin-off.

CTT invests funds by the CTT Innovation Fund in JSI’s commercially interesting equipment.

CTT regulates implementation and is actively involved into the process of registration of intangible assets at JSI.

CTT optimizes and starts regular remuneration process for inventors in order to further motivate researchers to work with the economy.

CTT in addition to the JSI Innovation Fund establishes its own Innovation Fund.

At the invitation of French partners to participate in the consortium, we successfully joined the international project AI4EU, which was accepted for funding through the H2020 program with the participation of CTT and was handed over to the Department Of Knowledge Technologies along all sources of funding for the JSI. The project with reputable international partners is an important source of networking and additional international involvement for researchers in the field of artificial intelligence at JSI and beyond in Slovenia.

Successful application of JSI / CTT as a subject of innovative environment with funding for support services for entrepreneurial researchers and individuals in planning and establishing high-tech start-ups and support of already established start-ups.

Organized the first informal network of external entrepreneurial innovation mentors Friends of JSI, modeled on the MIT mentoring scheme.

CTT receives Outstanding Technology Transfer Award: HiPEAC 2018 Technology Transfer Award.

IJS / CTT is invited and recognized by the JRC as DIH – Digital Innovation Hub coordinated by CTT.
2017

Established the first international spin-out company registered abroad, and tenth spin-out company established with aid by CTT.

10th International Technology Transfer Conference 10.ITTC, marked by the ninth award for the best innovation from JRO.

CTT accepted as a member of TTO Circle, an eminent club led by the JRC and including the MaxPlanck, Weitzman, Fraunhofer, VITO, VTT institutes.

Three JSI’s spin-out companies are ranked in the top 10 at the Start:up Slovenia competition.
2014

The new Guidelines on the procedure for acquisition of employment related inventions are adopted at JSI on CTT’s initiative; the new Guidelines specifically emphasize the role of CTT.
2013

Consortium for technology transfer (KTT) is established on CTT’s initiative.
2011

Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation is established as a financially independent internal unit within JSI, on the initiative of the Communication and Technology Transfer sub-unit.
2010

First JSI’s spin-out company is established in accordance with the new Procedure for establishing spin-out companies at the Jožef Stefan Institute.
2010

Commission for JSI’s spin-out/off companies is established, a part of which is also Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation.
2009

The first funding of technology transfers offices’ activities is instituted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology; the funding was repeated (through the same Ministry or the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology) in the years 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

The Communication and Technology Transfer sub-unit is established at JSI.
2008

Technology Transfer Office successfully organizes the first International Technology Transfer Conference.
2007

Technology Transfer Office organizes the first Open Day at JSI, with equal participation by all the Institute’s departments.
1998

The first Guidelines on the procedure for acquisition of employment related inventions, created in the course of employment at the Jožef Stefan Institute, and on the awards to be paid to the inventors for exploitation of their inventions, are adopted at JSI.
1996

The Technology Transfer Office is established as a part of JSI’s management (U9).
