VISITS TO THE MAIN UNIT IN LJUBLJANA (VIČ DISTRICT)

The main unit of the Jožef Stefan Institute is located at Jamova cesta 39 in Ljubljana (view the map).

Upon prior announcement you can visit us on Thursdays between 9:00 and 15:00. Please send us you enquiry at least 14 days before the date of the planned visit.

The entire visit can consist of one programme in the full duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes, when you can visit three different research departments (3 x 25 min).

Maximum number of visitors under each programme is, due to safety reasons, limited to 15 persons (within a single visit, a maximum of 45 visitors can visit the Institute per week). During the school year, we are able to accept the visit of one school per week. An individual school can visit the Institute only once in the current school year. Any additional change in number of visitors is not possible due to organizational reasons. In case the visitors are primary or high school pupils/students, they need to be accompanied by a teacher, professor or other person with pedagogical education, employed by the school.

Parking of cars and buses is not possible on the Institute’s premises. Buses that carry schoolchildren may enter the main parking lot to enable safe exit from the bus. Additionally, they may also pick up the children at the main parking lot.

We ask for a thorough compliance with the safety instructions given by the IJS staff (especially those given by the laboratory staff). Uncontrolled walking through the Institute’s laboratories is not allowed due to safety reasons, please stay with the group.

ORGANIZING A REMOTE VISITI

In the event that the physical proximity of people will be restricted for the time of your prearranged and confirmed appointment to visit the Institute, we prepared an option for executing a remote visit for your group. In this case, regardless of restrictions or limitations you will still be able to fulfill the program for the predetermined school activities by presenting top natural science research and equipment to your schoolchildren and students.

The size of the group in case of a remote visit is unlimited. Since there is no need to divide your group into safety subgroups of 15 participants per group, all participants in the remote visit will be able to watch and interact in a presentation of the same sections, laboratory or center at the same time.
